Southern Gascony - Picturesque, Secluded Cottage

Accommodation and Facilities

Echoing Albert Camus, this beautiful region of the south-west is often described as the 'Tuscany of France'.

This is the ideal setting for leisure and pleasure. There's no exotic night life, street bustle or traffic noise – come to relax and enjoy the quiet. Sample southern Gascony's great food and wine, lush landscapes, clear air and fantastic night skies. They're amazingly dark because there's very little light pollution.

Outside Details

The sheltered sitting-out area under the latticed, open barn at the west side of the cottage doubles as a games area (table tennis) - it also has a washing line and wood store. For hot summer days there's a garden shower. The west terrace on the west side of the garden is a suntrap from midday until sunset. It looks out over lawns and open fields, with panoramic south-west views over oak and chestnut forests and distant villages to the snow-capped Pyrenees. Four new mountain bikes can be hired at a moderate charge (3 sizes). There's private, off-road parking in a carport.

Traditional Features

- Please remember our cottage is almost 200 years old and owes much of its charm to its age. It was built before the days of cavity insulation and damp-coursing so please bear this in mind if you're taking an elderly person or very young children on your holiday, especially between October and April.

Wheelchair Access

- Some doorways are narrow and there are differences in level on the ground floor (step into sitting-room and back corridor leading to bathroom). There are steps into the entrance hall from the garden.
